6.25 horse power from a 9.5 amp motor? They must be pretty small horses! Even so this is quite simply the most powerful wet dry vac I've ever used. It makes dust collection on portable power tools a breeze. A dedicated tool vac with a current sensing switch is more convenient.( Fein , Porter Cable , Festo , etc.) But this is a lot cheaper and moves more air. It's also very quiet compared to other vacs supposedly rated in the 5 or more horsepower range. You get Two sets of tools with it. One for the large hose and one for the small hose. I think I'd rather have one hose of better quality and longer length though. The threaded hose attachment is a giant improvement. How many times have you tried to move your shop vac by the hose only to find it loose in your hand ? No more. The filter that comes with it is also a vast improvement. It is a pleated canister that is washable when it finally gets clogged up. That means no more changing filters when going from dry to wet pick up. I washed mine the other day and set it in the sun to dry. It got ran over by a truck so it is no more. It was my truck and I was driving. I got a clean stream filter instead of the original. It seems to get fine dust a little better. For drywall dust I really recommend the drywall dust bag filters. They go a long time before clogging up. Much longer than the canister filters. For general grub work and heavy clean up I really like this vac. When I burn it up in a couple of years I'll probably get another one . By then they'll probably be rated at 11 amps and fifty horse power.

Had this vacuum now for nearly three years and it's still going on strong!
Before purchasing the Dyson DC14, I'll have to admit that I had been indecisive in getting a vacuum cleaner because other brands were coming with their own similar version and they were much, much cheaper.

In the end, I decided that I need to bite the bullet and look for a vacuum that would last me a long time and every review on Amazon, people talked about how durable and how the suction has lasted for years. Whereas the cheaper versions on the market, not really.

So, I purchased this three years ago and I wanted to wait on my review and see if this vacuum would truly last.

And I'm here to say that my DYSON DC14 is still going strong. I am just amazed how this vacuum continuously performs aggressively in removing dirt, animal hair, dust, etc.

It's easy to use and I'm glad I didn't go for the thinner, smaller version because for my house, that cannister would have been full to quick. So, all in all, it was money well spent.

It was hard for me to purchase because of the cost but with all said and done, unlike other vacuums that slowly gotten worse overtime, again...three years now and it's still going on strong. So, it was worth the money spent.

What a great vaccuum cleaner. I thought I was doing a good job on the carpets until I got this. I got at Least a dozen containers full of fur until it finally stopped picking up loose pet fur. Great product.

Better than expected
I just picked one up today, so I get to give you a "real" first impression.

My current 15 yr. old vacuum burned up a belt and I couldn't find a replacement, so I was forced to buy an entirely new vacuum. I chose this Hoover because my last one was a Hoover also, and performed great for years.

I guess my old vac didn't perform so well in the last few weeks of its life, because this new one picked up dirt, dust and cat hair I was missing before. The advantage to the canister vac is that you can see what you're picking up, and wow, the carpet that I thought was still fairly clean turned out to be disgusting.

The old Hoover seemed to have more suction than the Hoover Elite Deluxe, but it didn't equate to better cleaning. This new one really cleans well.

The attachment does not have an electrical connection to spin the brush, it spins by suction. I thought to myself "Self, that ain't gonna work too well." Well, it looks like I no longer need my noisy, heavy,hand held vac. The attachment cleans better than my name brand hand vac at removing cat hair from the couch.

If you're looking for a vacuum in this price range, I recommend the Hoover Elite Rewind Deluxe Bagless Upright Vacuum, despite its awkward name. I'd buy one again.
