Great Product When my husband requested a wet dry vac for Christmas I was a bit panic stricken as I know nothing about choosing that sort of product. After a little research I selected this item and hoped for the best. My husband who runs a plumbing and heating company has said this product has saved the day more then once. It's great for cleaning up debris after a dirty job. His comments are that it has lots of power and suction, a good selection of attachments and it is very quiet. A great, reliable product at a good price. We recommend it.
No Better Vacuum Out There for Bare Floors I have owned this product for around 6 months now and have never had anything better! Background info: 3 dogs (Golden, Boxer, Catahoula Leopard Hound), 2 cats, 2 kids, bare floors in all but one room. I have owned everything from a cheapy $99 job (broke w/in 2 months)to a $1200 Kirby. NOTHING works better on pet hair, sand and bare floors (wood, tile) than this Miele! Even with other vacuums that had great suction, either the floor attachment or even the long tube at the end of the hose (not sure of the "technical" name for that part) would constantly get clogged with the animal fur. This little vacuum not only has fabulous suction, it has NEVER gotten clogged!
Other plusses: very lightweight, easy to maneuver, cord sucks up into the canister (no winding), quietest vacuum I've ever owned, small, cute (doesn't matter in the big picture but not a bad bonus)
Cons: (let me preface by saying the cons are so minor in light of the non-clogging that I am still giving the Miele 5 stars) the cord is not very long (though not really any shorter than most of my other vacuums) and the small bag fills up quickly (mostly because I am too lazy to go around and manually pick up the huge pet fur tumbleweeds before I vacuum), it is not overly easy to get at the roller brush on the turbo attachment (to clean it/pull the hair off).
Helpful hint: the difference between the models of Galaxy canister vacs is only the color of the canister and the attachments that come with it - nothing else. It took me a little time to figure that out. The turbo power attachment works great on mats and area rugs and does just fine on our one room with carpet. The bare floor attachment has never scratched anything and has a low enough profile to go underneath almost all of my furniture.
I have never written a review before (although I should have done so because I rely on them all the time) but just finished vacuuming in record time and with such ease that I felt compelled to sing the praises of this little Miele!
I love it ! Yes it is a great product, I have both a dog who is still being potty trained and a cat. It's quick and easy and does a good job. But it does leak, so you have to be careful where and how you store it.
Works Well But Read On I purchased this vacuum as a gift for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas last year. It works great, especially on hard surfaces (hardwood and laminate flooring) and is easy to operate. My daughter enjoys using it and helping around the house. The one drawback to this vacuum is that where the handle connects to the vacuum, it is held together with a relatively weak design. My daughter liked to put her foot on the vacuum and pull on the handle quite hard to shut it off. She also stood on the vacuum and wiggled the handle toward the front of the machine. The stress of that movement (by a 4 year old) broke where the handle connects right off the vacuum. We glued it back together several times, but even with careful use (my daughter learned to be more gentle with the vacuum) it kept breaking. I called Bissell to see if there was a replacement part and there was not. Since we called within the first year of ownership they sent us a new vacuum - we were pleased with their stand behind their products. Now we stress to everyone that we need to be careful with the handle and where it connects to the vacuum. It seems as though something designed for the use by children (who, by nature, tend to be a little rough on their stuff), should be designed to be a bit more durable, especially at the part that technically is the on-off switch.
It is also important that if the battery dies out completely, make sure the vacuum is all the way off before plugging it in to recharge it. The cord and vacuum get hot and could pose a hazard. Really, folks, we are responsible people and don't break everything. We love the vacuum and recommend it for any family who has a daughter who loves cleaning. This is a great product.
this vacuum sucks This vacuum is a waste of money. Its design is a joke. In order to use the hose you have to completely unwind the cord. If the vacuum gets hung back it will create a reflex and hit you in the back when freed. It has no useful attachments and everything gets stuck in the catcher container. It gets stuck because the space between the drop off and filter is like an inch wide. I'm shocked at its dysfunction, dangerous reflex, and lack of useful attachments. [...] It has a very strong suction to the point that it will suck up a sock like a lint ball....is that good? I'm still not too sure if I like that strength do to the reflex...the harder it sucks the stronger it hits you in the back of the legs. I can't believe there hasn't been a recall.
